Caregiver Spotlight: Ebony & Jean

At Golden Harmony, the relationships between our companions and clients are at the heart of everything we do. One beautiful example of this is the special bond between Ebony and her client, Jean.

Jean was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and moved with her family to Southern California when she was about eight years old. She grew up there, later marrying and raising her children in Southern California.

In their 70s, Jean and her husband purchased a home in Carolina Lakes, where they spent half the year before eventually making North Carolina their permanent home in their late 80s.

Family has always been one of the most meaningful parts of Jean’s life. She has a small, close-knit family who remain very involved and hands-on in her life. Over the past year, Ebony has become an important part of that circle.

Ebony is an energetic and caring caregiver originally from New York. She says one of the things she loves most about Jean is her bubbly personality. Ebony shares that she truly enjoys spending time with Jean and feels she can be herself around her. Over time, their connection has grown into something that feels much more like family than simply caregiver and client.

Jean appreciates Ebony’s energy, kindness, and the thoughtful care she provides each day. Ebony assists with many aspects of Jean’s daily living, helping make each day easier and more enjoyable. Just as importantly, Ebony has built a strong relationship with Jean’s family.

Because they are such a close and involved family, Ebony makes it a priority to communicate regularly so they know how Jean is doing. She even shares videos at times, which brightens their day—especially when they cannot be there with Jean in person.

Outside of work, Ebony is a proud mother of two and loves spending time with her own mother as well. Family is very important to her. In her free time she enjoys cooking, singing, and dancing, bringing that same warmth and joy into the care she provides.

Jean’s daughter offers a simple piece of advice to others who may be considering additional support: don’t be afraid to get extra care. The right caregiver can truly be a blessing.
